Bermuda Banks

Bermuda is a self-governing archipelago, dependent on the United Kingdom, located in the Western part of the Atlantic Ocean, in the vicinity of North Carolina to the east of Cape Hatteras. The archipelago is comprised of approximately 150 small islands, islets and rocks, of which only about 20 are inhabited. Bermuda has developed as a successful offshore financial center, although tourism continues to be an important source of income there; each year more than 400 thousand people visit the country, above all from the United States. There are no income taxes in the Bermudas, nor are there taxes on capital gain, sales or assets. Annual governmental fees are placed on businesses and there is a payroll tax. Local businesses must be controlled by citizens of Bermudan; however, offshore operations are carried out through tax-exempt or non-profit companies.
