Austria covers approximately 75% of the western Alps. Its economy was badly hit during 2007-2008; however, it has been successful in regaining its growth during the last four years. The highest rate for personal income taxes reaches 50%. Private foundations benefit from very low corporate taxes and are exempt from paying on income from dividends, under determined conditions. All resident companies are subject to paying corporate taxes. In addition, resident companies must report their income on a global level, so that another tax can be applied. Non-resident businesses are taxed only for income obtained in Austria.
